Hi, Today I bought a Punto 75 SX engine and box with driveshafts. This will be used in my A112 Abarth next racing season. Because of class regulations I have two choices. I may use the engine in standard trim, with some minor modifications, or go for full race with anything under 1301 ccm. In the latter case I would probably use a 16v 1242, but must compete with Ferrari´s and Alfa´s with two and tree times the power in the most powerful class. The 16v is not easy to find at a reasonable price her in Norway, so when this low milage engine surfaced I had to go for it. In the long run it will be a the full race alternative, but since I have little cash, and little experience in racing, the 8v will be the smartest way to go. I'm allowed to do the following modifications: * Surface the cylinder head (no limit) * Modified exhaust (from cylinder head and all way back) * "Chipped" standard ECU * Grinding valves (3-angle cut) * Extra oil cooler and filter The rest of the engine must stay as it left Fiat. Do you have some tips of what I can do to make this a competitive engine within this limits? What may be an estimate of power output? The engine will replace a A112 Abarth with approx. 90 HP. I guess I will have some more torque, and hope to end up with almost the same power. The cars weight will end up at about 550 kg., so it will be pretty fast even with the original 75 HP Happy F.I.R.E owner Gopp
