Mango is another car someone played about with and never finished it. One day it ended up in my place as an unwanted car. Mango was left unattended by myself for well over a year. In total the engine wasn't turn over for over two years.
One day not so long ago I went to inspect the car a bit further. It had a rear shunt that was repaired properly, but doesn't show from the outside.
The battera obviously was dead, the exhaust was bodged with a centre back box and a few other little things were to be sorted.
I removed the exhaust, which was cheaper than sorting it out.
Then the car got its first wash in years verifying that there was a car under all that grime.
I thought then: "Wow I have a totally standard car for a change!"
Not quite standard. It has got a Selecta sticker on the tail gate.
So, off I went to MOT, tax and insure it.
In the papers it says it is a Punto 55, but turned out to be a Punto 51. And just about a 51.
Well, this is what the rolling road said.
51bhp! Hardly a whopping output. Okay then, my thinking turned to forget about having a standard car.
Off came the air box and an induction kit was fitted.
To be honest it was already in my boot when I went to the rolling road.
Anyway, This little adaption upgraded Mango to a Punto 57.
What next?
Well, I thought driving would do it rather well. After some weeks I returned to the rr to find out that after standing for vso long and not been driven it turned out well.
It had increase power output to 61bhp.
I know you guys are laughing, but it is fun.
Since I have done quite some miles and Mango had an appearance at Castle Combe.
More on this to follow
