As said on another forum its a clever idea to limit the amount of exhaust gas read to trick the car into thinking the cat is there and working however whether this has adverse effects on the performance or not still because it is still getting a false reading....?
If I hadnt had a sports cat fitted I would give it a try an hour after getting another MOT just incase lol.

The same effect can be reached by re-writing the software, which I would prefer.
Also you have to consider that this won't be realistic in the UK anymore as more roadside emission checks are being carried out and even more of them planned.
The sports cat is the cheaper solution and a bonus is the lack of hassle when it comes the MOT.
A sports cat doesn't cost the world and even if the manifold has got be be replaced it will work out cheaper than the messign about every year and the fines that will be imposed.

Yeah sports cat = less chance of getting your hands dirty come MOT time! Also officially keeps the ECU happy!
