Yes, its me B.A Baracus, you may know me as J.R Racing on the other forums that bless the internet.
I own a Fiat Seceinto Sporting Mpi, it has been upgraded from the original 1108 mpi unit which kicked out 74bhp/75lb ft to a 1242 SuperFire 16v Unit which is kicking out over 100bhp.
I am very happy with the performance of the car as it stands the car is running :
1242 16v engine : standard 86bhp, 113NM torque
Ported and Flowed head
Multi Angle Vavle Cut
Compression raised to around 11:1
Lightened and Balanced Crank
Flywheel 3.6KG (around half weight)
Remap
Exhaust - Peco
Induction : Temporary silicone hose setup
After mapping this kicked out 102.6bhp and 93lb ft of torque.
There is still a long way to go with the car.
Stage 1 ASAP : Eliminate hesitation - the engine has a heistation problem where as some times it feels under acceleration the car is not accelerating at all, and the further down I go on the throttle pedal, the further it worsens to where i have no acceleration and a major timing problem, sometimes it disappears. I am currently sorting this with some help!
Stage 2 April/May 07: Proper Exhaust - The current exhaust is ok, but horribly restrictive to the engine especially in parts. The exhaust manifold is currently standard, and as a quick job to get the car on the road, I had a standard piece of 1108 bore exhuast between manifold and peco cat back system, this is killing a lot of the power, the hole does not help. A correct bore exhaust will be put in place, probably with the supersprint manifold.
Stage 3 Easter/Summer 07 : Finished Induction - I currently have a tasteful pink/blue hosing setup which was loaned to me, it works quite nicely, but still needs some work and a custom induction is planned. This will include a reducer to speed up the air intake gas speed.
Stage 4 : Engine Bay Detailing (2007) : Just finish off the car aesthetically.
I am hoping for well in excess of the current power and torque figures when completed.
Along with a repsray of the exterior of the car, planned soon, I am hoping this project will be finished in time for the summer.
Peter from GSR has been a superb help with the project, not only with the sale of the engine, but with the after sales help and fitment of the engine which was very much appreciated.
